Mission

The ULAB Library aims to foster dynamic and responsive services to all its users, by projecting better professional practices and nurturing quality, creativity and effectiveness through its collections and services.

Background

The Library is the center of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). It has been growing with the university constantly serving the vibrant community of students and faculty members since its establishment.

In 2004, the Library was launched at 116 Arjatpara, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Dhaka-1212. In 2006, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh and the Central Library were moved to its own campus at House 56, Road 4/A, Dhanmondi, Dhaka-1209.

ULAB also has a Seminar Library at Permanent Campus, Ramchandrapur, Mohammadpur, Dhaka-1207 where students can use resources in the library only. Different types of text and reference books for the departments of Media Studies & Journalism (MSJ), Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ETE), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and M.A. in English are available in the Seminar Library.

ULAB Library is the center to facilitate knowledge acquisition by providing Reading Materials/Resources to ULAB Students, Faculty Members and Staff. A constant growth of Library resources is carefully maintained to serve the vibrant community of Library Users since its establishment.

Library Time Schedule

Generally ULAB Central Library has been providing services to users from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm. Central Library remains open 13 hours on every day. Seminar Library has been providing services from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Thursday and 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Friday.

Library Resources

ULAB Library is enriched with various types of resources that includes Textbooks, Reference Books, Special & Rare Books, e-Books, Periodicals, National and  International Journals & Magazines (print & online), Reports, Newspapers (national & international), Audio -Visual Materials and  Maps & Atlas etc. Besides, ULAB Library is a member of a variety of Online Archives & Databases.

Library Resources are kept on the shelf in line with Program, Category and Subcategory

according to International Classification System, called ‘DDC’ (Dewey Decimal Classification).

Library Orientation

ULAB Library arranges orientation program every semester for the freshers on regular basis to orient them with Library resources, activities & facilities. Also Library is introduced to freshers at central orientation in auditorium through Library Documentary/Video. Library conducts Library Tour through following 4 steps.

Library Management System 

ULAB Library activities are operated by Library Management Information System, namely KOHA. Library maintains a database of Library holdings. Users can easily find out resources with the help of Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC).

ULAB Library provides services to its users through Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). Users can browse Library resources/database and easily find out resources through OPAC

ULAB Library Digital Repository (DSpace):

ULAB Library maintains Digital Repository (DSpace). Digital Repository is a digital service that collects, preserves, and distributes digital resources. Users can easily access and use these digital resources through-Digital Repository.
