Training on research & writing tools : Turnitin and Zotero for GED Faculty

On June 1, 2023, ULAB Library hosted a hands-on training on research and writing tools - Turnitin and Zotero for GED and Bangla faculty members. The session began with a welcome address by Professor Shahnaj Husne Jahan, Head of the GED department. She highlighted the importance of software skills for convenient research and writing and expressed her hope that the training would help them to improve their skills in these areas. She also thanked Dr. Ahmed Abidur Razzaque Khan for the initiative and the faculty members for their participation.

K M Hasan Emam, Joint Librarian at ULAB led the training. He demonstrated various functions of Turnitin & Zotero softwares, including how to avoid unintentional academic misconduct, the usage and settings of Turnitin software for instructors, how to write effectively with the help of Turnitin Draft Coach tools, and how to create citations & bibliographic references using Zotero. The faculty members were very engaged in the session, and they asked many questions.

At the end of the session, the participants thanked the library staff for their cooperation and for providing such informative training.

The training was a great success, and it is hoped that it will help the ULAB GED faculty members to improve their research and writing skills. This will ultimately benefit the students of the GED department, as they will be able to learn from their professors who are more knowledgeable and skilled in these areas.
